What's more, I took another job, /school/ again at the beginning of the year, but now there's only one or two days left and school's out. I'm looking forward to it more than the kids. I hate school, I've been doing it for ten years!

For Dialogue, as with my other zero-texts, I didn't want total sterility either. Dialogue should be considered a verbatim manuscript. Any erasures, uncertainties, etc. are entirely up to me. The medium here is the facsimile! I'm not interested in cosmetics here. So, somewhat irregularly, I feel it's much more expressive: visual, and far from literary. It's specially typed, as an English daily also wrote, summer 1973: "Mr. Endre Tót, who specialises in typing noughts on sheets of paper is already here.

I'm very interested in the fate of DIALOGUE and our dialogue too. Please write quickly now

    We asked publisher Thomas Howeg if the AP 11/20 rating was indeed from Endre Tót :

I'm now hard at work on a one-man show for July /The Jerusalem Museum/(1975). There are two large rooms and before me, there was no less than Jan Le Gac. Dibbets, Boltanski ... In other words, I have to make a lot of effort.- Thomas, can I ask you to send two copiesof Nullified Dialogue to the museum?

  • RAINPROOF IDEAS was published as catalog no. 137 and as an artist's book for Endre Tót's exhibition at the Israel Museum (July-August 1975) in Jerusalem.

    Indeed, the complete edition includes an embossing entitled "Braille Rain", which was produced in a print shop in Israel from an original by the artist.

    I really like STARS FROM POLAND. It was your great idea and I'd like you to take it up: STARS FROM POLAND by JEAN SELLEM & E.T. It's OK. I didn't have much time to write an explanation and if you want, you can use the Ken Friedman essay* I sent. The other things that came with it, I picked them out of the zerOs because I didn't want other things to get mixed up on the show. I didn't want other ideas to distract from the zerOs covering the POLISH STARS. The STARS are almost zer000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000000000000 anyway, and when we say that, they're totaly ZER0000000000000S. Aren't they? OK?

    * I've just received a message from Ken: he's writing to send you his essay, which I sent before Ken's letter... You can see that we work telepathically.

    The motif on the card (Anders Zorn, Maja 1900 *) reproduced above has been overlaid with zeros, and at the mouth Tót stamps his hilarious face. At the top, he has typed in Swedish: Jag är glad om jag kan skriva n0ll0r (I'm happy if I can write zeros)

    On the back of the card, Endre Tót writes:

    Dear Jean, from my letter carrier's bag protruded your pipes like cannon tubes. - Full of (Stars from Poland). Thank you so much for this! I quickly signed them, numbered them from 0 to 10. and I also sent you 10+0 pieces. Did you receive them? And did you receive my documentation, and I've sent you two other letters since then, in the last few weeks. Dear Jean, thank you for the show. Wait for your letter, Love, Endre & Tót.

The joys didn't need an audience - most of the time, they were only seen by the person taking the photos (János Gulyás). I have no idea about the technical side of photography. I've never taken a photo - unless it was of myself (in the background) or my shadow, in which case I was handed a perfectly adjusted camera. I've used photography "only" as a documentary image, and I've only made (technical) demands on the photo to show clearly what I'm happy with.

For some photos, the caption is superfluous, but I want to use it everywhere for the sake of unity and monotony.

    I'd like the booklet to resemble that ofA. Messager /La Femme et...//Ecart/. So the cover in cardboard, the inside pages in thinner paper /on which the photos are easy to reproduce/. OR: cover and inside pages of the same paper, but the paper must be of medium thickness. I'd also like the type of letters in the catalog to be similar to those in Messager's book, which I really like. I've indicated the place of the text and photos on the sketch. They will be surrounded by a uniform 1.5 cm "frame" on each page. The sentences are all written in large type / without numbering/./Enlarge on the cover, reduce the letters on the penultimate and last pages. For some photos, the caption is superfluous, but I want to use it everywhere for the sake of unity and monotony. For photos where my smiling face isn't visible, add the photo of the laughter /As with the telegram. So: you can see where 😃 goes in the layout, which is:😃.
